Waves Shape

Back to Littlehampton for the first sea dive for Ann, Geoff, Kerry, Kim and Zoe. And it was Zoe’s first dive of our club boat. Although the weather was not the best, it didn’t stop anybody diving and expectations were high. Launching was easy and soon enough we were heading out towards the Outer Mulberry.

The wind was fairly strong and we had a lot of spray going into the wind and waves to reach the dive site. Once there it was a bit better but still a lot of waves that kept our rib bobbing up and down and made kitting up a bit more challenging.

The Outer Mulberry was enjoyed by all. Not very deep and lots of fish life on it. Some massive spider crabs, lost of bib and dead man’s fingers. Always a pleasant dive and even though the surface conditions were not ideal, underwater it was calm and barely any current.

Lunch was consumed still moored to the buoy and thereafter we dived the Waldrons. Supposedly an area with large boulders but we managed to miss the large boulders and saw small ones instead. What we also did see were dogfish, hermit crabs going about their business, plaice covered in sand and a ray.

Returning to shore our two semi dry divers were getting a bit chilly. We didn’t see much sunshine today and the wind made it fresh. And being soaking wet from a leak in his dry-suit made Kerry very cold too!

Recovering the boat was straightforward. Kit sorted and packed away we had a bite to eat in the café and then on our way back to the boatyard. We washed the boat there and then parked it in the garage ready for next time.

A lovely day diving with Lee Valley Dive Club.
